Pickup rolls after striking SUV on U.S. 45 near Mayfield

MAYFIELD, Ky., (KBSI) – First responders were dispatched Tuesday morning to a two-vehicle collision on U.S. 45 North between KY 849 and KY 1241 that left one person injured.

The crash occurred at about 7:05 a.m. when Michael Ladd, 49, of Brookport, Illinois, was traveling south in a 2024 GMC Canyon. According to investigators, Ladd became distracted and drifted from the left southbound lane into the right lane, striking the rear of a 2020 Toyota RAV4 driven by Harley Stephens, 28, of Hickory.

The impact caused Ladd’s vehicle to go airborne, roll once and come to rest on its wheels. Ladd was not injured, but Stephens was transported to Baptist Health Paducah for observation.

The crash remains under investigation by Deputy Zac Smith of the Graves County Sheriff’s Office. He was assisted by Deputies Larry Jones and Austin Ramage, Mayfield Police Department, Mayfield/Graves County EMS and Mayfield/Graves County Fire Rescue.
