Plein air painting at Crisp Museum

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – At the Crisp Museum in Cape Girardeau people got a chance to learn some new painting techniques Sunday.

The event was plein air painting, another name for painting outdoors. The workshop was a starter event for all skill levels, and no experience is necessary.

Ellen Flentge, Curator of Education at Crisp Museum, said this event is a great opportunity.

“Folks that have never tried this would have the opportunity to give it a go,” said Flentge.

One of the things Flentge taught was having participants sketch what they see instead of being connected to their phones.

The Crisp Museum events like this are open to people of all ages and talent levels. It’s great for people who just want to keep learning just like one of Sunday’s participants Linda lovewell.

“It started I really got interested and I just kept going and it’s fulfilling and I do paint almost every day,” said Lovewell.

Flentge says that Crisp Museum will offer weekly painting classes that go on all year long and they would love to have everyone check out our program online.
