GRAVES COUNTY, Ky. (KBSI) – A man faces several charges after Graves County Sheriff’s deputies say he led him on a chase into another county on Wednesday.

Jason Avery, 40, of Lowes faces charges of reckless driving, fleeing/evading in a motor vehicle, wanton endangerment 1st degree, operating on a DUI suspended license, criminal mischief and several traffic violations.

Graves County Sheriff’s Deputy Austin Caldwell tried to stop a black 2013 Jeep Wrangler for traffic violations on KY-131 near KY-1684 in the Kaler area on October 11 around 9:30 p.m.

The driver of the Jeep drover away from Deputy Caldwell and led him and Deputy Garret Clark on a chase on KY-1684, Vastine Green Road, Hopewell Road, KY-408 and McCracken County Road, according to the Graves County Sheriff’s Office.

When the chase reached the intersection of McCracken County Road and Cody Lane, Deputy Clark conducted a PIT maneuver on the Jeep.

The Jeep ended up in a nearby cornfield where the driver continued to drive.

Deputies were unable to chase the Jeep through the cornfield due to the terrain.

Deputies found the Jeep unoccupied with the engine still running in the back of a cornfield near a wood line and creek.

They searched the area, but Avery was not found at that time.

Through a search of the vehicle and a follow-up investigation, they determined the driver of the vehicle to be Avery,

The deputies and Kentucky State Police conducted an extensive search of the area where Avery ran awa.

He was located on KY 849 near McNeil Lane at approximately 7:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 12.

Avery was arrested and taken to the Graves County RC Center where he was later transferred to an out of county jail facility.
