Police investigate deadly shooting in Poplar Bluff; woman identified

POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. (KBSI) — A woman died after a shooting Saturday night in Poplar Bluff, according to the Poplar Bluff Police Department.
Police said officers responded around 10:23 p.m. May 16 to the area of Victor and Thomas streets after reports of gunshots. When officers arrived, they found a woman suffering from gunshot wounds. Officers provided aid until EMS arrived and continued lifesaving efforts, but the woman later died from her injuries.
The victim was identified as 45-year-old Brittany Luna of Poplar Bluff. The Butler County Coroner’s Office is assisting in the investigation, and an autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday, May 19.
Investigators said witnesses were interviewed at the scene, and officers developed a person of interest connected to the shooting. Police said that person later contacted officers and was taken to the police department for questioning.

Police said the investigation remains ongoing and no additional information has been released.
