Police make arrest after morning shooting in Christopher

CHRISTOPHER, Ill., (KBSI) — Christopher police say they arrested a 17-year-old in connection with a shooting early Thursday morning.

It happened near E. Washington St. and Church St.

When officers arrived they say they found a male victim with gunshot wounds to his arm and rib area.

The victim was airlifted to a hospital in St. Louis for treatment. A short time later the suspect was identified.

With assistance from the West Frankfort Police Department, officers located and arrested the suspect without incident.
The suspect, a 17-year-old juvenile, was transported to the Christopher Police Department for further investigation and was later charged with the following offenses: Attempted Murder, Reckless Discharge of a Firearm, Reckless Conduct, Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon and Unlawful Use of a Weapon.
The juvenile was transported to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office and is being held at a juvenile detention center in Missouri.
