Police investigate reported shooting after victim arrives at hospital with foot injury

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) – Officers with the Cape Girardeau Police Department responded to an area hospital Sunday evening after a person arrived with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the foot, according to authorities.
The victim told police the shooting occurred around 6 p.m. in the 400 block of South Benton.
Officers searched the area but did not find evidence that shots had been fired. Witnesses also told police they did not hear any gunfire in the area.
The investigation is ongoing.
