Police investigate two downtown Cape Girardeau break-ins

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) — Police are investigating two business break-ins reported in downtown Cape Girardeau.

The most recent burglary occurred shortly after midnight on Aug. 20, when a business was found with a broken front door, according to Cape Girardeau police officer Bobby Newton. Officers determined that about $3,000 worth of merchandise had been stolen. The suspect has not been located.

The incident came just days after a separate break-in at Grateful Headz on Broadway Street. Store owner Madison Snyder said alarms went off during the burglary and the front glass door was shattered.

“I appreciate everybody’s support and I’m just looking forward to justice just for the community and our store,” Snyder said.

Newton said investigators are working to determine if the two crimes are connected. Police are reviewing surveillance footage and encouraging anyone with video evidence to contact the department.
