Police investigating false impersonation report at Capaha Park

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – Cape Girardeau police are investigating a report about a man falsely impersonating law enforcement at Capaha Park.

On Monday, August 7, police say a victim told police a white male around 45 years old, wearing a grey t-shirt with no facial hair, driving a red pickup truck (possibly a four-door), identified himself as an off-duty police officer.

The man did not provide any type of identification to the victims. The man requested one of the victim’s IDs and took a picture of it. He then told the victims that they needed to leave, and he left the area, according to police.

Police say the investigation in ongoing.
