Police looking for 3 suspects after 2 arrested, 1 injured in Kennett shooting

KENNETT, Mo. (KBSI) – Police are looking for three suspects in connection with a shooting that happened Thursday, November 30 in Kennett.

Two people were arrested, but three people are still at large. One person was injured, according to Dunklin County Prosecuting Attorney Nicholas Jain.

Five people face charges in a shooting that happened Thursday in Kennett.

Law enforcement were called to a report of shots fired at The Store #2 at around 3 p.m. on Thursday, November 30.

Two vehicles left the scene of the shooting. Officers found one of the vehicles and arrested Keonne Chaplin and Herman Pounds.

After reviewing video surveillance, police learned that Chaplin shot from inside the store into the parking lot toward Jamison Taylor and Eric Thomas. Taylor and Thomas shot toward Chaplin from outside the store in the parking lot and continued shooting at Chaplin left the store, according to Dunklin County Prosecuting Attorney Nicholas Jain.

One of the bullets Chaplin is accused of firing struck a victim who was taken to a hospital and later released.

Keonne Chaplin, 19, of Malden is charged with two counts of assault in the first degree, two counts of armed criminal action, three counts of unlawful uses of a weapon, unlawful possession of a firearm and tampering with physical evidence.

Jamison Taylor, 40, of Kennett is charged with with two counts of unlawful use of a weapon and unlawful possession of a firearm.

Eric Thomas, 35, of Clarkton is charged with two counts of unlawful use of a weapon.

Herman Pounds, 25, of Kennett, Mo. is charged with hindering prosecution of a felony and tampering with physical evidence.

Tanya Summers, 31 of Kennett is charged with with hindering prosecution.

Chaplin and Pounds are being held in the Dunklin County Jail without bond on a warrant issued by the Honorable John Spielman.

Taylor, Thomas and Summers are at large and have no bond warrants outstanding for their arrest.

The Kennett Police Department, Dunklin County Sheriff’s Office and Missouri State Highway Patrol investigated the case.
