Police remind drivers to clear snow, ice from vehicles for safe travel
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — As winter weather sets in, local law enforcement is reminding drivers to clear snow and ice from their vehicles to avoid hazards on the road.
Cape Girardeau Police Officer Bobby Newton emphasized the importance of cleaning windshields and roofs, citing the dangers of ice and snow flying off vehicles at high speeds.
Newton advised drivers to be vigilant, paying attention to vehicles with snow and ice buildup and keeping a safe distance. He also noted that ice on windshields can create hazards for drivers, limiting visibility.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol also issued a reminder on Facebook, warning drivers that snow and ice on vehicles can damage others’ property.
Newton encouraged drivers to take necessary precautions, checking the weather forecast and allowing extra time to travel in winter conditions.
