Police say woman shot self at Cape Girardeau hospital

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – A shooting happened at Mercy Hospital Southeast in Cape Girardeau Wednesday.

Police confirm it was a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Police are there to assist with security.

Mercy Hospital Southeast released the following statement.

While patient privacy laws prevent us from sharing any personal information about our patients and their care, Mercy asks everyone to join us in praying for this patient, their family and friends. We are working with law enforcement as they conduct their ongoing investigation. Please contact the Cape Girardeau Police Department with any questions regarding their investigation.
