Police seek missing Carbondale woman believed to be in danger

CARBONDALE, Ill., (KBSI) — UPDATE: A Carbondale woman who had been reported missing has been found safe, according to police.

Carbondale police said Tamara J. Sawyer, 35, was located July 31 with assistance from other law enforcement agencies. She was found safe and in good health.

Police thanked the public for assisting with the search.

Carbondale police are asking for help locating a missing 35-year-old woman who has a medical condition that may place her in danger.

Tamara J. Sawyer was last seen July 29. Police said she may have left a residence in the 100 block of North Springer Street before 8:40 a.m.

Sawyer’s vehicle was captured around 12:33 p.m. traveling north on Illinois Route 127 near Pinckneyville toward Nashville. She was later seen around 2 p.m. at a residence in the 200 block of South Ninth Street in Murphysboro.

Sawyer is 6 feet, 1 inch tall and weighs about 156 pounds. She has long brown hair and brown eyes and was last seen wearing a burgundy shirt and blue jeans.

She is believed to be driving a white 2012 Toyota Camry with Illinois license plate BC94714.

Anyone with information about Sawyer’s location should contact the Carbondale Police Department. The investigation remains ongoing.
