POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. (KBSI) — Community members in Poplar Bluff will gather this weekend to honor victims of the 2025 tornado and remember a man who lost his life during the storm.

A Day of Remembrance service will be held Saturday, March 14, at New Covenant Fellowship Church. Following the service, a police-escorted procession will travel to Shelby Road, where a sign unveiling and “Memorial Mile” dedication ceremony will take place.

The ceremony will honor Ronald Ezell, who died during last year’s tornado.

Poplar Bluff Mayor Shane Cornman is encouraging residents to attend the event and take part in remembering those affected by the storm.

Officials say the dedication is meant to serve as a lasting tribute to Ezell and the community members impacted by the 2025 tornado.
