POPAR BLUFF, Mo. (KBSI)- The Poplar Bluff Police Department has seen an increase in stealing related offenses associated with the purchasing and sales of items through Facebook and other social media platforms.

The police department is warning those conducting sales on social media of the dangers and encourage residents to conduct these transactions in a safe environment.
The Poplar Bluff Police Department has designated parking for residents meeting to utilize.
This parking is marked as “RESERVED FOR SAFE EXCHANGE” and is positioned in front of the department’s entry doors along Shelby Rd.
If residents prefer another location, the police department suggests a well-lit public lot, with surveillance cameras nearby.
Another suggestion is to have another person accompany you to the meeting location and have the other person video the transaction.
As always, it is recommended to use due diligence in verifying the legitimacy of the other party involved.
