POPLAR BLUFF, Mo., (KBSI) — Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center reported nearly $215 million in total economic and community impact in 2025, according to its annual Community Benefit Report.

The hospital recorded more than 400,000 patient encounters last year and provided nearly $55 million in charity and uncompensated care, officials said.

Hospital leaders said more than $7 million was invested in new services and upgrades, including robotic-assisted surgery technology and improvements to orthopedic care. Additional enhancements included dedicated space for sexual assault nurse examiner services aimed at supporting trauma-informed care.

Officials said more than 1,000 babies were delivered at the facility in 2025, while the emergency department handled more than 42,000 visits.

The hospital also reported more than $118 million in payroll and over $14 million paid in taxes, contributing to the regional economy.

In addition to patient care, the health system supported local organizations and community initiatives, including food drives and nonprofit partnerships.

Hospital officials said the facility continues to invest in workforce development, including its internal medicine residency program, which is designed to train future physicians to serve in community healthcare settings.
