Poplar Camp Beach to open for summer season Memorial Day weekend

CARBONDALE, Ill. (KBSI) — Poplar Camp Beach will open for the summer season Friday, May 22, ahead of Memorial Day weekend.
The beach, located south of Carbondale on Cedar Lake, will remain open daily from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. through Labor Day weekend.
City officials said Poplar Camp Beach is the only area on Cedar Lake where swimming is permitted.
The facility operates as a swim-at-your-own-risk beach, and lifeguards will not always be on duty.
Visitors who want to confirm lifeguard staffing availability are encouraged to call 618-549-8441 before visiting.
Amenities at the beach include restrooms, picnic tables and concessions. Guests may bring their own food and drinks, but glass bottles and alcohol are prohibited.
Daily admission is $2.50 per person. Ten-visit passes are available for $20, while 20-visit passes cost $35. Admission is free for children ages 4 and younger.
