CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) – The PORCH Initiative marked its five-year milestone by celebrating major achievements in fundraising, community investment and volunteer leadership. The effort, launched to raise funds and awareness for revitalization work, has generated $1.3 million, with 91% of contributions coming from private donors.

During the event, the organization presented awards to two of its earliest volunteers—now board members—Dr. Tamara Buck and Marvin McBride, recognizing their longstanding commitment and service.

The initiative has reinvested $1.2 million into real estate projects in south Cape Girardeau. According to the organization, those investments now generate more than $5,000 in annual property taxes, contributing to the local tax base and ongoing neighborhood improvement efforts.
