PADUCAH, Ky., (KBSI) — A section of the Greenway Trail and North Water Street in downtown Paducah will be closed Thursday morning while crews install a new river monitoring sensor.
According to the City of Paducah, the closure will be in effect from 7 a.m. to noon June 18 and will affect both pedestrian and vehicle traffic in Schultz Park. The floodwall opening at the intersection of Water and Jefferson streets also will be closed during the work.
City officials said the closure is necessary to allow for the installation of a new river sensor as part of the U.S. Geological Survey’s National Streamgaging Network.
The previous sensor had deteriorated and needed to be replaced, according to the city.
Officials expect the area to reopen once installation is complete.
