Preliminary findings released in Murray officer-involved shooting
MURRAY, Ky., (KBSI) — Kentucky State Police have released preliminary findings in an officer-involved shooting that occurred June 16.
According to police, 23-year-old Eric W. Saxton was shot in the leg by Murray Police Officer Charles “Eddie” McGuire after Saxton allegedly approached officers with a weapon.
Police responded to a report of an armed person at an apartment on Brooklyn Drive. Saxton was taken to a hospital for treatment and later arrested on charges including attempted murder of a first responder and drug possession.
McGuire, a 22-year law enforcement veteran, has been placed on administrative leave. The investigation is ongoing.
