Pride in Action Southern Illinois is set to host its first Fun Run 5K this coming Saturday

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – Pride in Action Southern Illinois is set to host its first Fun Run 5K this coming Saturday, May 6th. The event is both a fundraiser for the organization and an opportunity for the LGBTQ community to invite friends and allies to join in on the fun.
According to Tim Kee, the director of fundraising with Pride in Action Southern Illinois, the event is all about camaraderie and support.
“It’s a chance for not only the LGBTQ community to come together, but also for allies and friends and family members to show their support and have a good time,” he said.
The race starts at 9 am, and will take place at the John A Logan Aquatic Center in Carterville, IL. Participants have the option to either participate in person or virtually. Those who choose to participate in person can enjoy a scenic route through the town of Carterville.
In addition to the race, participants can also look forward to some special swag.
“Everybody that enters gets a specially designed medal,” Kee said. “It’s a great way to remember the event and show off your support.”
