PROMO condemns SCOTUS ruling on trans youth healthcare
ST. LOUIS (KBSI) — PROMO, Missouri’s LGBTQ+ advocacy organization, criticized the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision in U.S. v. Skrmetti, which allows states to ban healthcare for transgender youth.
“Healthcare for trans youth is lifesaving care,” said Katy Erker-Lynch, executive director of PROMO. “Politicians do not have the right to overrule families’ decisions on what care their child needs.”
PROMO encouraged trans and queer youth seeking support to contact The Trevor Project, a confidential helpline available 24/7 at 1-866-488-7386 or via text or chat at 24/7 Suicide Hotline for LGBTQ Youth – We’re here for you Now.
