Hospice care is a wholistic approach to provide physical, emotional, spiritual and personal care for somone in their last chapter of life.

The Lutheran Home opened a hospice center to provide that level of care in the community.

“Above and beyond that we wanted to create a space to allow families and loved ones to really focus their time on making memories,” said Ashley Jones, director of Providence Home Health & Hospice. “We want to help families and loved ones really focus on the life that has been lived and the beauty of that.”

Hospice care can be provided both in home and in a facility like Providence Home Health & Hospice.

“When a patient elects hospice, what can be expected is a full array of services to meet that needs of that patient. Medicare will pay for 100% of that care provided by our hospice team,” said Jones. “It also includes full coverage for medications related to that terminally ill diagnosis.”

They are only responsible for the room and board to stay at the Lutheran Home. However, the hospice services are all fully covered.

Providence Hospice provides a bereavement period as well. A social worker will call and check up on family members and loved ones. They will make in home visits to provide counseling and guidance through grief.
