BLOOMFIELD, Mo. (KBSI) – The public is invited to participate in a large art project that will be displayed on the front of the barn on the Stars and Stripes property in Bloomfield.

A new, large public art project has started at Painted Wren Art Gallery Cape Girardeau.

The art gallery is located at 620 Whitelaw Avenue.

The mural will be for the Stars and Stripes Museum in Bloomfield.

It is in five sections measuring 6 feet by 5 feet.

When completed, the mural will measure 6 feet by 20 feet and will be installed on the front of the barn on the Stars and Stripes property.

The mural image has the U.S. flag in the background, and soldier silhouettes, a soldier holding a stack of newspapers on his shoulder, and several Stars and Stripes newspapers with headlines.

As with previous Paint For A Cause projects,

Anyone, any age, and any ability can participate for a $2 donation per triangle.

Juried Best of Missouri Hands artists, Aaron Horrell and Barb Bailey, will show each participant where to paint on the mural.

A journal will be kept with the names, ages, job titles, and hometowns of each painter.

Painters are welcome to paint in honor or memory of a veteran family member.

The journal will become a historic document and will be given to the Start and Stripes Museum when the project is finished.

The mural will be available for the public to paint at the Painted Wren Art Gallery during regular business hours and scheduled dates at the Stars and Stripes Museum.

Any groups that would like to host the mural at an event can contact Aaron Horrell at 573-579-1000 or the Stars and Stripes Museum at 573-568-2055.
