Pup with broken leg brought to Southeast Missouri Pets

CAPE GIRARDEAU Mo. (KBSI) – A pup with a broken leg is the newest addition to Southeast Missouri Pets, but despite his injury, he is still upbeat.

“He has been in good spirits since day 1. He has been wonderful.” Said Farmer.

Jenn Farmer is Executive Director of Southeast Missouri Pets, and she is describing the optimistic personality of the organization’s newest pup, Maglev. Who is named after a type of steam train, because he was found by train tracks late one night.

She says, “He was found in a ditch by the train tracks and that’s as little as we know. Like I said in my post, I wish he could talk, I wish he could tell us.”

The organization is thankful that Officer Shute, from Cape Girardeau, was able to spot Maglev and rescue him.

“…And he contacted us the next day to ask us how he was doing, and let us know that he had brought him in. And he had his leg brought up to his body and wasn’t putting any weight on it at all.” Said Farmer.

Despite the pup’s injury, he has shown much excitement, and farmer says the only time Maglev was unhappy was the day after his surgery. aside from that, they say he has been in the best spirits.

She adds, “He went under surgery. We tried to X-ray him without anesthesia, and it was too painful to pull that leg, so we did it with anesthesia, and found that break, it was a clean break. We were able to splint it while he was still under anesthesia still.”

The organization has posted on SEMO Lost Pets and put out flyers, but an owner has yet to come forward. However, according to SEMO Pets, there has already been one inquiry for the pup to go to a loving home, but the organization wants to make sure Maglev is fully recovered.
