Renovated playground at Cape County Park North to reopen Sept. 2

CAPE GIRARDEAU COUNTY, Mo. (KBSI) – Renovations at a playground at Cape Girardeau County Park are nearing completion.
The Melania’s Playground will open to the public Monday, September 2.
Improvements completed include the installation of a new playground surface, a new slide, the replacement of steps, fencing and hard surface for an addition to the playground. The main parking lot will be resurfaced this week in anticipation of the reopening on Labor Day.
“We would like to thank the citizens for their patience during this process,” said Cape County Parks Superintendent Bryan Sander. “It took cooperation with our vendors to complete the renovations in the shortest timeframe possible.”
Work will continue on the new addition to Melania’s Playground in the coming weeks as equipment is received and installed by park personnel.
The renovations are funded in part by the county, grant funding and Melania’s Playground Foundation.
Those wishing to reserve Shelter #8 (adjacent to playground) are asked to call the Park Department direct to reserve.
