Renovations continue at Cape Girardeau County park playground

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – Renovations continue at a playground in Cape Girardeau County.

The Melania’s Playground renovations include the installation of a new playground surface, a new slide, the replacement of steps, new fencing and new concrete for an addition to the playground.

The surface vendor completed installation of the main area of the current playground ahead of schedule.

County park crews will complete the replacement fence installation and concrete work in the next week.

Leaders estimate the public will have access to the playground near the end of August. The new playground surface and equipment will be completed in the coming weeks as equipment arrives.

The renovations are funded in part by the county, grant funding and Melania’s Playground Foundation.

Citizens wishing to reserve Shelter #8 (adjacent to playground) are to call the Park Department direct to reserve.
