Rep. Jason Smith files for reelection in Missouri’s 8th Congressional District

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) — U.S. Rep. Jason Smith announced he has filed paperwork to seek reelection to represent Missouri’s 8th Congressional District.

Smith, a Republican, said he is seeking another term in Congress and thanked voters in southeast Missouri for their continued support.

Smith also said he has received the endorsement of former President Donald Trump.

In a statement, Smith highlighted legislative priorities including economic growth, job creation and border security, and pointed to tax legislation passed during his tenure as chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee.

Smith said he plans to continue advocating for policies he believes will benefit residents of Missouri’s 8th District if reelected.
