Rep. Jason Smith meets with SEMO REDI to discuss economic growth in Southeast Missouri

SOUTHEAST MISSOURI (KBSI) — U.S. Rep. Jason Smith met with leaders of SEMO REDI this week to discuss economic development efforts across Southeast Missouri.

Smith said he met with representatives from Jackson, Marble Hill, Scott City and Cape Girardeau to hear about initiatives focused on workforce training, housing development, infrastructure improvements and expanding access to rural health care.

In a statement, Smith said federal policies such as the Working Families Tax Cuts and Rural Opportunity Zones are intended to support small businesses and economic growth in rural communities. He said he plans to continue working with SEMO REDI to encourage job creation, investment and improved services in the region.
