DONIPHAN Mo. (KBSI) – In Ripley County stress levels are high and so is the water on the water.

Rain is becoming a problem for the residents in Ripley County. There was no rain in October and flash flooding taking place in early November.

Ripley County was predicted to have the Current River crest at 28 feet.

Residents are evacuating their homes in the pouring rain.

Today, the sun is shining, and the river levels are dropping but businesses and residents are concerned due to the history of flooding.

Craig Meador has lived in Ripley County for years. In 2017, Meador’s house went completely under water during the historical flood. When he got the news that flooding was predicted to crest at 28 feet, he packed up everything he could and went somewhere dry.

“Myself as well as my neighbors in my little subdivision were all scrambling to try to get all of our belongings out and up to high ground. I personally took a U-Haul and put all my furniture and everything in it and moved it to high ground and they’re in my little subdivision all my neighbors were doing the same thing to U-Haul box trailers pick upside-by-side everywhere with everyone trying to scramble to get their stuff out, moving our boats and things up. It was bad and there’s no feeling like it to think that your home it’s going to be completely flooded,” said Meador.

Luckily the Meador’s had no damage to their home. As of now, there is no rain predicted in Ripley County to continue the rising levels of the river.
