JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ill., (KBSI) — Rome Grade School was briefly placed on a soft lockdown Friday morning after reports of a man acting suspiciously north of Dix, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
The Jefferson County 911 Center received multiple calls about the individual, prompting the school’s resource officer to initiate the lockdown out of an abundance of caution.
Officials said there was no immediate threat to students, staff, or the school. The situation has since been resolved, and the lockdown has been lifted.
