Royalton man on parole arrested in West Frankfort after drugs found

WEST FRANKFORT, Ill. (KBSI) – A Royalton man faces drug charges after a traffic stop in West Frankfort early Wednesday morning.

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office received a request from the West Frankfort Police Department for assistance on a traffic stop at 1 a.m. on July 12.

Lt. Jared Anthis and K9 Vader responded to the 500 block of West Poplar Street.

The West Frankfort patrolman requested that K9 Vader conduct a free air sniff of the outside of the vehicle involved in the traffic stop. K9 Vader was deployed and as a result about 90 grams of suspected methamphetamine and assorted drug paraphernalia associated with the sale of narcotics was recovered from the vehicle. The estimated street value of 90 grams of methamphetamine is approximately $5,000.

Wesley A. Miller, 35, of Royalton was arrested by the West Frankfort Police Department. He faces charges of possession of methamphetamine (Class 1 felony) and possession with the intent to deliver methamphetamine (Class X felony).

At the time of the arrest, Miller was on parole.

Due to the arrest by the West Frankfort Police Department, the Illinois Department of Corrections issued a DOC Warrant for Miller.

He was taken to the Franklin County Jail. His bond was set on the charges at $75,000.
