CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — Southeast Missouri State University alumni Dr. Janet and Dr. Pat Ruopp will receive the university’s highest honor, the 2025 Friends of the University award.

The Ruopps will be recognized at the annual President’s Council Dinner on March 28 at the Show Me Center.

The award acknowledges individuals who support the university through the Southeast Missouri University Foundation, advancing the university’s mission and programs.

“Dr. Janet and Dr. Pat Ruopp embody a generous spirit,” said SEMO President Dr. Carlos Vargas. “Their impact is felt across campus, and their thoughtful contributions have made a meaningful difference in the lives of our students.”

The Ruopps, who have practiced dentistry in Cape Girardeau for 47 years, are longtime supporters of SEMO, contributing to various areas, including STEM programs, athletics, and scholarships.

Both Janet and Patrick graduated from Southeast Missouri State University and later earned dental degrees from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Dentistry.

The couple has also been recognized for their community service, including dental missions to Haiti and participation in the Missouri Missions of Mercy program.
