Saint Francis Healthcare System celebrates 150th Anniversary with record-breaking food drive

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — Saint Francis Healthcare System celebrated its 150th anniversary with a food packing project that far exceeded expectations, with nearly 200 volunteers helping to fight food insecurity in the region.

The original goal was to pack 10,000 meals, but volunteers ultimately packed 153 boxes of food, totaling 33,048 meals. The food was distributed to the Catholic Social Ministry Food Pantry and the Southeast Missouri Food Bank.

“This project was a beautiful reflection of who we are as a ministry,” said Stacy Huff, Executive Director of Saint Francis Foundation. “We witnessed compassion, teamwork and joy as our colleagues came together to make a meaningful difference.”
