CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — Saint Francis Healthcare System has welcomed two new physicians to its medical practices in Cape Girardeau.
Dr. Adam W. Norwood has joined Advanced Orthopedic Specialists, while Dr. Olivia J. Garvey has joined Cape Care for Women.
Norwood is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in joint replacements, including total hip and knee replacements, partial knee replacements, complex revision surgeries and robotic-assisted joint procedures. He also provides nonsurgical treatment for hip and knee arthritis and general fracture care.
Norwood completed a fellowship at Northwell Health/Lenox Hill Hospital in New York and his residency at SSM Health OSU/St. Anthony Orthopedic Surgery in Oklahoma City. He earned his medical degree from the University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth, Texas.
Norwood said his passion for orthopedic surgery began with experiences during his childhood.
“I grew up around woodworking, helping my grandad and dad build furniture and the house I grew up in,” Norwood said. “The same tools I grew up learning to use are similar tools to what we use in surgery.”
Advanced Orthopedic Specialists provides treatment for injuries and conditions affecting the ankles, elbows, feet, hands, hips, knees, shoulders and wrists.
Garvey, who joins Cape Care for Women, recently completed her residency through the Sisters of Charity Obstetrics & Gynecology Residency Program.
She is board-certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and earned her medical degree from the New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine in Jonesboro, Arkansas.
Garvey said she looks forward to providing compassionate, personalized care to women in southeast Missouri and surrounding communities.
Cape Care for Women offers comprehensive health care services for women at every stage of life, including preventive care, treatment and individualized care plans.
