Salvation Army of Cape Girardeau still needs volunteers for warming shelter

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – The Salvation Army of Cape Girardeau is open as a warming shelter this week, and the organization is still in need of volunteers.
The facility opened on Monday and will continue to provide a place for people to escape the cold through Sunday.
The Salvation Army needs volunteers for the hospitality team, which handles set-up, intake, and preparation and serving of food. They also need volunteers to monitor the location.
Bob Lenz is the senior pastor at Restoration Community Church, which is volunteering this week, and he stressed the importance of having volunteers during this time.
“We need volunteers, but please let your yes be yes,” he said. “Please show up when you say you will. Faith of a mustard seed. We could do so much together. It takes a village, but the village has to show up.”
Shifts for the hospitality team are from 6 pm to 10 pm and 5 am to 8 am. For monitors, shifts are from 7 pm to 11 pm, 11 pm to 3 am, and 3 to 7 am.
You can call the Salvation Army if you are interested in volunteering.
