Saxony Lutheran football players dive into a different kind of practice

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) — The Saxony Lutheran football team traded the field for the pool this week, using water workouts for conditioning and team building.

The Crusaders began practice at the Cape Aquatic Center for two consecutive days before returning to the field. The water workouts gave players a different way to build cardiovascular endurance while reducing the impact associated with traditional conditioning drills.

The team ended its latest pool session with a relay race between the players and coaches. The players claimed the victory.

The Cape Aquatic Center offers water-based conditioning sessions for interested athletic teams. Teams can schedule a session by emailing aquatics@cityofcape.org.
