Sayler A. Fleming steps down as top prosecutor for Eastern District of Missouri
SOUTHEAST, Mo., (KBSI) — U.S. Attorney Sayler A. Fleming has resigned as the top prosecutor for the Eastern District of Missouri, effective Friday.
Fleming, who was appointed by former Attorney General William P. Barr in 2020, led the office in prioritizing violent crime prosecutions, including gun cases and murders.
During her tenure, the Eastern District of Missouri led the nation in gun prosecutions, and Fleming’s office partnered with local law enforcement agencies to combat violent crime.
Fleming will be succeeded by Matthew Drake, who will serve as acting U.S. attorney.
