Scott City Elementary reports no fire after heater concern prompts precautionary response

SCOTT CITY, Mo., (KBSI) — Scott City R-1 School District officials say all students are safe following a precautionary incident Tuesday involving a ceiling heater at Scott City Elementary.

According to the district, staff reported an overheating ceiling heater in a hallway, prompting a call to the Scott City Fire Department out of an abundance of caution.

Emergency crews responded quickly and confirmed there was no fire.

Officials said seasonal temperature changes can sometimes cause equipment malfunctions and expressed appreciation for the swift, professional response of local emergency personnel.
