Scott City man arrested on felony failure-to-register charge

SCOTT COUNTY, Mo., (KBSI) — A Scott City man has been arrested on a felony charge for failing to register as a sex offender, according to the Scott County Sheriff’s Office.
Steven Douglas Weinkauf, 31, of Scott City, was taken into custody Monday, Dec. 22, 2025, on a warrant charging him with failure to register as a sex offender, second offense. The warrant was issued by the Scott County Circuit Court on Dec. 2, 2025.
Bond was set at $60,000 with conditions ordered by the court. Deputies located and arrested Weinkauf without incident. He is currently being held in the Scott County Jail.
Failure to register as required under Missouri law is a felony offense. The sheriff’s office said it will continue enforcing state law and remains committed to public safety.
