Scott City man facing stealing, drug charges after stolen mini excavator found

SCOTT CITY, Mo. (KBSI) – A Scott City man faces stealing and drug charges after police found a stolen mini excavator.

Christopher L. Klughart of Scott City faces charges of deliver controlled substance except 35 grams or less of marijuana or synthetic cannabinoid Class C felony, tampering with physical evidence in felony prosecution a Class E felony, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia a Class D misdemeanor and stealing Class D felony.

Officers with the Scott City Police Department recovered a stolen Caterpillar (CAT) mini excavator from a home in Scott City on June 11.

It was reported stolen from Jefferson County, Missouri on Sunday June 9.

Officers received information that the implement was parked at a local address that belonged to Klughart.

Officers found the CAT at the address that was provided and recovered it.

Scott City Police officers with the assistance of Scott County sheriff’s deputies, executed a search warrant at an additional local address of Klughart as a result of a narcotics investigation.

Officers recovered documents related to the stolen CAT and an approximate weight value of over 100 (grams) of narcotics in liquated form.

Scott City Police Chief Chris Griggs says drug paraphernalia was also found during the search.

Klughart was taken to the Scott County Sheriff’s Office on no bond allowed warrant for the narcotics.

He was given a $15,000 cash only bond for the charge of felony stealing.
