Scott City Police Department investigates string of car break-ins

SCOTT CITY, Mo. (KBSI) – The Scott City Police Department is looking into multiple car break ins.
According to Scott City Police Chief Chris Griggs at least two areas in Scott City were believed to be targeted with several other vehicles broken into randomly.
He’s encouraging everyone to lock up vehicles and take all valuables inside as they investigate.
Griggs says at least two areas in Scott City they believe were targeted for car break ins and several more they believe were just random break ins throughout Scott City.
Although they have not made an arrest at this time, they are investigating.
“They become crafty at times on how to be undetected but that’s their business and believe me if they are going to do their business, were going to do ours.” “We will do everything we can as a city and as a department to find those responsible and hold them accountable” says Griggs.
Cape Police Department say they are also investigating multiple car break-ins along with Du Quoin Illinois Police Department.
They all say the same thing to citizen’s… lock up vehicles.
“I think you hear law enforcement all over the country say this about every time you turn the tv on, take your valuables inside and lock your car. It’s just that easy” says Griggs.
