20th annual Scott City Spring City-Wide Yard Sale concludes after rousing success

SCOTT CITY, Mo. (KBSI) – Jenifer Barnett took full advantage of the Scott City City Wide Yard Sale.

“We went to about 10 yard sales and probably spent about $600,” she said.

Barnett explained what appeals to her about yard sales.

“We like to go all the time to see what we can get, best buys, and I’ll buy for everybody,” she said.

Several locations around Scott City participated in the 20th edition of the Spring city-wide yard sale, including First Assembly of God Church.

Pastor Randy Morse said this yard sale is a testament to the togetherness of the Scott City community.

“We just all work together here in the community, and that’s just the way the community is,” he said.

And Morse said First Assembly of God Church is no different.

“There’s just a love, not only a love for Jesus, but a love for each other, that they work together, and fellowship together, and they all work for the same direction, for the same thing,” he said.

The money raised from this yard sale will go towards the church’s Foundations Group, which gives back to the community through various programs.

Foundations Group Team Leader Jay Cassout said the church raised over $2,000, but there are still some items left over, the fates of which are to be determined at the Foundations Group meeting on Thursday.

“I’d say we probably got rid of at least 50 percent, and we’re going to decide whether to have another yard sale at a later date or donate everything,” he said.

So keep an eye out for, potentially, another yard sale at First Assembly of God Church in the near future.
