Scott County Bridge to be replaced

SIKESTON, Mo. (KBSI) -According to MoDOT a plan to replace Route AA bridge is in order after an overweight vehicle recently caused bridge damage.

Following bridge damage found on the Route AA bridge over Route 60 in Sikeston, Missouri, a bridge replacement is being planned.

The bridge was damaged from an over-height vehicle last week.

“Since that time, we have closed, inspected, and determined a bridge replacement to be necessary,” said MoDOT Project Manager Donna Philpot.

She explained that MoDOT executed an emergency contract, hired a consultant to begin design work, and determined a May 16, 2025, letting date.

“With the accelerated timeline, construction could begin as early as July 2025,” said Philpot.

Additional information regarding bridge specifications and timelines will be released as design plans are completed says MoDOT.
