Scott County sheriff asks residents to call office if items stolen from vehicles

BENTON, Mo. (KBSI) – Scott County Sheriff Wes Drury asks residents if they have had items taken from a vehicle in the last three to four weeks to call the sheriff’s office.

Several items have been recovered from vehicle break-ins over the last three to four weeks.

Two suspects were identified and questioned in a string of vehicle break-ins. The suspects helped deputies recover several items taking during the break-ins, which occurred around Benton and Kelso.

The break-ins date back several weeks and amount to more than 50. Many were unreported, according to the sheriff’s department.

The investigation continues, more subjects are being questioned, and more items are being recovered. Those who have had items taken from a vehicle over the last three to four weeks in the Benton and Kelso area are asked to contact the Scott County Sheriff’s Office at 573-545-3525 so your property may be returned. If you have had your vehicle broken into and did not file a report, you are encouraged to contact the Scott County Sheriff’s Office and file a report.
