Search warrant leads to methamphetamine trafficking arrest in McCracken County

MCCRACKEN COUNTY, Ky., (KBSI) — Two people were arrested Friday after a narcotics investigation led deputies to execute a search warrant at a Paducah property, according to the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies executed the warrant Sept. 25 at a property in the 1200 block of Powers Road. Investigators said they had been investigating suspected methamphetamine trafficking at the property for about three months.

During the search, detectives reported finding about 59 grams of suspected methamphetamine, marijuana, a hydrocodone pill, digital scales, drug paraphernalia and cash believed to be proceeds from drug sales.

Investigators identified 59-year-old Ricky D. Collins of McCracken County as a suspect in the alleged trafficking operation. The sheriff’s office said Collins was living in a storm shelter on the property and was out on bond following a previous methamphetamine trafficking arrest.

Collins was arrested on charges of second-offense trafficking in methamphetamine, first-degree possession of a controlled substance involving hydrocodone, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to notify the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet of an address change.

Detectives also arrested 51-year-old Kellie Sims of Metropolis, Illinois, after determining she had an outstanding warrant from Marshall County. Investigators said they found a small amount of suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia in her purse.

Sims was charged with possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia in addition to the outstanding warrant.

The sheriff’s office said the investigation remains ongoing and additional charges are possible.
