Second Chance website connects those overcoming addiction, leaving incarceration
(KBSI) – Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear announced the launch of the Second Chance website on Thursday. It connects people overcoming addiction or leaving incarceration to resources that can help them find a job, get an education and support their continued recovery.
The governor invited Sarah Young on stage to speak on how the program helped her.
“I’d like to start by thanking everybody that makes the re-entry program possible,” said Young. “You all give us a second chance to obtain a life we may not have thought was obtainable. I know I never imagined I’d become a fulltime state employee. However, because I followed my passion for cooking and showed how hard I’m willing to work, to prove that I’m no longer what my criminal record says Scott and the village saw my potential,” said Sarah Young, a cook at Kentucky Dam Village State Resort Park.
The website provides people with resources to find a job, get an education, seek out recovery resources and more.
