CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — Southeast Missouri State University’s baseball team is helping fight hunger through a partnership with the Southeast Missouri Food Bank.
The Redhawks have recorded 215 strikeouts so far this season, generating donations through the “Strike Out Hunger” campaign.
For each strikeout, sponsors — Cape Electrical Supply, Midwest Sterilization Corporation and the Sikeston Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo — donate $3 to the food bank.
Officials said the effort has already helped provide more than 7,700 meals to individuals and families facing food insecurity across Southeast Missouri.
