CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — The SEMO Redhawks men’s and women’s basketball teams have concluded their regular season, raising thousands of dollars to fight hunger through the #BlockHunger campaign.
According to SEMO Food Bank, the teams combined for 209 blocked shots this season. Through sponsorship support from Drury Southwest Inc., First State Community Bank and the Sikeston Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo, the effort generated $6,270.
Food bank officials said the funds will help provide more than 25,000 meals to individuals and families facing food insecurity across the organization’s 16-county service area.
SEMO Food Bank thanked the Redhawks and campaign sponsors for partnering to support hunger relief efforts in southeast Missouri.
