SEMO District Fair volunteers beat the heat
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – Despite high temperatures volunteers are showing up and willing to sweat it out at the SEMO District Fair.
Although it may be uncomfortable out with an excessive heat warning, volunteers at the fair are still putting in the work to ensure that everything runs smoothly.
Volunteers are big part of the Semo district fair each year so it’s essential that they take breaks and stay hydrated. One volunteer Linda Puchbauer is the Rotary Club of Southeast Missouri Membership Chair. She shares that the heat hasn’t stopped members of the rotary club from volunteering each day at the fairgrounds.
“To deal with the heat the fair has provided us a tent that we can get under to get out of the sun. We also bring our own personal fans. Also, we can wear shorts so that helps” says Puchbauer.
From working booths to helping with events to parking their jobs may look different but all have the same goal. Making sure fair goers have a safe and fun experience.
“They give us, water bottles, Powerade, soda, whatever we need, and they check in with us to make sure we’re okay and not hot and hydrated. So, the fair takes great care of us, and we’re taking care of them” says Puchbauer.
