SEMO fans gather in droves, make the trek to March Madness

DAYTON, Ohio (KBSI) – It’s the day all college basketball fans wait all season for!

“We are winning already,” said Wings Etc. owner Joe Hobbs. “All we have to do is win a basketball game now. And that is it, man!”

Hobbs said a big reason for the excitement is the game, sure, but it also is about the character that resides in the locker room.

Added Hobbs: “My favorite thing about all the winning though it the student-athletes. They are just awesome human beings. And just love the fact that our coaches are sticking around. And obviously to be here at the NCAA is just the best ever.”

As SEMO fans enjoy the game and cheer for a win, superfan John Spear feels like some of the team’s success stems from the fan support.

“It’s very rewarding to know that you’ve had a little bit of a hand, not necessarily in on the court or on the field success. But as far as raising fan awareness and trying to be sure we grow the brand of the RedHawks,” he said.

SEMO, though, fell to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, 75-71.
